Cognitive Science Program

Hi! My name is Kira Breithaupt. I'm a senior in the cogsci program and am interested in the cognitive process of analogy-making. This allows me to ask the following questions: How do we compare ideas? How do we transfer knowledge from one to another? How can we make sense of experiences we haven't had? Currently, my approach to exploring these questions entails working with computational modeling techniques to better understand the nature of the functions that might instantiate analogy-making. My overarching goal is to work towards a comprehensive account of analogy that integrates findings from the neural, behavioral, and computational perspectives. Meanwhile, I am enjoying being a part of SOCS and helping to facilitate exposure to some of the coolest research happening in the field. SOC on!
